Meet Shuman Zhou – Piano Educator & Founder of Dream Music Studio
Originally from Harbin, China, Shuman Zhou began playing the piano at the age of three, quickly showing a natural affinity for music. Her early dedication and musicality were recognized with First Prize wins at the Toyama Hong Kong Music Competition in both 2001 and 2003.
In 2004, she and her family immigrated to Montreal, Canada, where she continued to refine her artistry under the mentorship of world-renowned pianist Marina Mdivani. During this time, she pursued her academic and musical studies at Marianopolis College and McGill University, laying the foundation for a lifelong career in music education and performance.
In 2014, Shuman founded Dream Music Studio—a vibrant and inclusive learning space offering high-quality instruction in piano, violin, cello, voice, and more. Her vision was to create a studio where students of all backgrounds could discover the joy of music and reach their full potential under the guidance of caring, professional teachers.
Shuman went on to deepen her musical training through formal studies, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance and Music Creation at the University of Sherbrooke under Professor Carmen Picard, followed by a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Toronto, where she studied with esteemed pianist and educator Professor Lydia Wong.
